Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I thought Teeth Whitening had to be applied by my Dentist? And what is the difference in getting it performed by a trained Aesthetician compared to my dentist?

No. Because the sole purpose of Cosmetic Teeth Whitening is for beautification, our system is globally considered to be a Cosmetic procedure rather than a health treatment.

Did you know that in a number of dental offices the teeth-whitening procedure is not performed by the dentist at all, but by the Nurse or Hygienist; or alternatively, the dentist will sell you a take home DIY kit for unsupervised home use.

Afterall, these days with new technology and safer whitening gels, it has become an extremely simple cosmetic procedure rather than the complicated dental treatment of the past. Nevertheless, to provide you with our very best care, our Aestheticians undergo the same professional teeth whitening application training that dentists who use this system are provided with.

Moreover, being Teeth Whitening Specialists, our NZCTWA Registered Practitioners can care for more clients a month than some dentists will treat in a year.

The Teeth Whitening System uses the same technology as is used in advanced dental offices around the world – in fact, globally Beyond Teeth Whitening Systems is used by more than 20,000 dentists.

However, there is a difference in the New Generation Whitening Gels we use; our modern whitening gels are 580% LESS CAUSTIC than what many Dentists & Hygienists still use and therefore, are considerably safer and offer less risk of side-effects.

In fact, in the interests of public safety we ONLY USE new safer cosmetic whitening gels clinically proven to be Safer than Orange Juice.

Q: Is it safe?

Yes, scientific research has shown that the active ingredients in the BEYOND™ Teeth Whitening Gel are effective and safe for cosmetic tooth whitening. The dental community has proved these ingredients in performing teeth whitening for more than 20-years. Our system is FDA and ISO approved.

The BEYOND Teeth Whitening Gel does not change or damage the structure of your teeth; it is a safe cosmetic process that merely reverses out staining build-up making your teeth whiter and shiny.

There is no burning sensation on the gums as only 12% cosmetic strength H2O2 is used which dissipates when in contact with your saliva and when the activating light is turned off, hence Eco-friendly too!

Q: Will it whiten my existing crowns or veneers?

Whitening treatments can only whiten natural teeth and cannot change the colour of porcelain crowns, veneers, or fillings.

Q: How long does the procedure take?

In only 1-hour, discolouration that has built up over the years can magically disappear. It takes no longer than the time it would be for you to have a haircut or a facial – it’s that simple!

Q: Will it hurt?

No. For your comfort a our gels have a desensitizing agent incorporated in it, which means, minimal to no sensitivity. 99% of our clients do not experience any sensitivity pain.

A very small percentage of clients may feel some minor tooth sensitivity, especially if they consume very cold or hot foods or drinks within a few hours after the procedure. Therefore, it is recommended that you avoid consuming extremely hot or cold food or beverages for the first 24 hours following the procedure.

If you think your teeth may be sensitive, please ask us to email our Client Education paper “Sensitivity” It will give you more information about how you can help eliminate any tooth sensitivity after your treatment.

Q: How much does it cost?

Up until recently because professional teeth Whitening was largely monopolized by dentists the cost of a teeth whitening procedure was typically around $1,000 - $1,500.

However, because we specialise solely in Affordable Professional Teeth Whitening, our Professionally trained NZCTWA Registered Practitioners can now offer you a full professional 1-hour (inc. consultation) deep bleach power whitening procedure for just $299 including GST.

Note: This is NOT a cheap LED system that produces limited results.

We provide a lay-by system where you can pay 30% upfront and will have 6 weeks to make the rest of the payment. Once full payment is made we will get you in for your treatment.

Q: Is the Teeth Whitening procedure for everyone?

The BEYOND POLUS ADVANCED Teeth Whitening procedure has consistently proven to provide remarkable results for anyone who wants to have whiter teeth.

This includes people with teeth that have been stained by smoking or by substances such as coffee, tea or red wine. It also whitens teeth stained by tetracycline (antibiotics), speckled by overdoses of fluoride, or hereditary discoloration. However some stains might take more then one sitting to achieve the best results.

However we do not advise treatment if:

  • You are pregnant or lactating.

  • Under the age of 16.

  • Had scaling or polishing done withing 2 weeks of your appointment.

  • Gum disease e.g. gingivitis or periodontitis. (It is recommended that you visit your dentist first).

Q: How long will the whitening last?

This varies from person to person and depends on your diet and lifestyle, but the effects usually last between 6 months to 2 years.

Periodic once a year touch-up treatment is recommended for clients who frequently consume coffee, tea or other staining foods and drinks or for those that use tobacco products.

Q: What is the difference between BEYOND POLUS ADVANCED teeth whitening system and other methods of tooth whitening?

The BEYOND POLUS ADVANCED Teeth Whitening system uses advanced technology cold-light Whitening Accelerator & Ultrasonic Technology for faster, whiter and longer lasting results.

It can take as much as 14-days using over the counter bleaching trays and up to 8 hours using some older technology systems to get the same results and you have to continuously repeat the procedure every couple of weeks.

Designed with your comfort and safety in mind, our 60-minute professional procedure is safer, gentler, and produces superior results to most other teeth whitening options.
